What an amazing three weeks it’s been!
Loki, Milo, and Scout all graduated from their Board & Train programs this week💚
During their time here, they learned their basic commands of sit, down, place, heel, and recall, and were all conditioned to the Ecollar for off leash reliability and clear communication. We also focused heavily on manners in the home, such as no jumping, counter surfing, or reacting to the front door.
Seeing their progress each day has been so rewarding, but my favorite part is always working together with their families. Loki, Milo, and Scout have incredible families who are eager to continue their training journey back home. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with these three dogs and can’t wait to see them thrive back in their own homes. 🫶
Birch is one of our favorite field trips for practicing recalls🐾 Milo & Scout are in the last week of their board & trains and doing so well with their skills out in public🫶
My adorable private lesson students this week🥰
Raven, 3yo Chihuahua/Yorkie mix
Daisy Mae, 12 week old Maltese/Yorkie mix
Lulu, 14 week old miniature Australian Shepherd
Scottie, 6mo Cavapoo
Jiujiu, 2yo Havanese
Feeling pretty lucky this St Patty’s Day 🍀🐾
Rocco’s officially graduated his 3 week board & train with me.💚
This boy came to me to work on his reactivity to dogs and men, lack of impulse control, manners with people, and off leash reliability. His owner wanted to have better communication, control, and to ultimately live a better life with Rocco. We’ve made so much progress in the last 3 weeks and I’m so excited for all the adventures he has ahead of him back home with his mom.
Always so grateful for the opportunity to work with amazing people and their dogs. It truly means the world to trust me with your dogs and their training.🫶

It’s a hard job but somebody’s gotta do it. At least I have some cute coworkers🥰

This cutie just had his first private lesson😍
Scottie is a 6 month old Cavapoo learning his basic commands and loose leash walking. He’s also getting socialization & building confidence with new dogs. His mom has been so proactive with his training and our goal is for him to be a go anywhere do anything type of dog!
Here are three tips to help you set your new dog or puppy up for success in your home:
1. **Hand Feeding** Hand feeding is exactly what it sounds like—feeding your dog from your hands instead of a bowl. I like to portion out their daily food, put it in a ziplock bag, and keep it in my fanny pack for easy access throughout the day. This allows you to bond with your dog while reinforcing positive behaviors. You can use their food to teach basic commands, focus, tricks, or even nose work games for enrichment. There are so many better ways to feed your dog than just from a boring bowl! If your dog is getting all their food directly from you, it helps to create a stronger bond and focus to you.
2. **Crate Training** Dogs, especially puppies, need a lot of sleep. A crate provides them with a designated space to fully relax and decompress. It also gives you peace of mind knowing they’re safe when you’re not home. New dogs and puppies shouldn’t be immediately trusted with unsupervised free roam of the house. Too much freedom too soon can create bad habits like potty accidents, chewing/destructive behaviors, separation anxiety, and even reactivity. Preventing bad habits from forming is much easier than trying to fix ingrained ones.
3. **Tethering** Tethering simply means having a leash on your dog while they’re in the house. I either use the leash to keep my dog close by or back tie them somewhere I can monitor them. When bringing a new dog into your home, they don’t know what the rules and expectations are. Decide on the rules you want to establish, such as no counter surfing, no begging from the table, or no getting on the bed, and use the leash to reinforce these rules. Setting boundaries from the beginning will help you and your dog coexist peacefully. As your dog learns and follows these rules, they’ll gradually earn more freedom!
When in doubt, reach out to a professional trainer for guidance when welcoming a new pup into your home.🐾 #pawpanobeachdogtraining #pawpanodogtraining #pompanobeachdogtraining #southfloridadogtraining #balancedtraining #boardandtrain #dogtraining
This girl definitely has a special place in my heart❤️
Rosie has officially graduated from her 3-week Board & Train and is back home with her family. She started as a nervous, anxious dog who was impossible to walk on a leash, and has become a dog that knows how to relax in and out of the house, can reliably walk on a loose leash, listen to commands around distractions, and can handle “scary” situations with confidence. I’m so proud of how far she has come and it makes me so happy to see her in a healthier state of mind. 💚
Nova is a stunning 5.5 month old working line German Shepherd😍 who just had her first private lesson! We’ll be working on her basic commands, house manners, appropriate play, and learning an off switch🐾
Dogs are always the best Valentine❤️🐾
Rosie hasn’t been socialized a lot to new people or places, so the first time is always a little scary for her. Here’s some things I did to help set her up for success going in:
* exercise prior to help burn off excess energy
* place in the home to practice that calm mindset
* calm behavior in the car with a down/stay
* loose leash walking drills in the parking lot before I expect her to walk on a loose leash into the coffee shop
* clear guidance when she gets nervous. Instead of letting her panic and try to figure it out herself, I tell her what to do (like sit or down- behaviors she is familiar with)
* put her in an area that’s out of the way of other people and not too overwhelming for her
* down/stay at the table to help her settle
* reinforce her commands as needed & reward with high value treats when she does well
This was a really positive outing for her and so beneficial in building her confidence. With continued socialization, she will learn that new places, people, and noises aren’t actually that scary. So proud of this girly!

Reactivity is easily one of the most common behavior problems I see as a dog trainer.
And as an owner, it may seem like “my dog is perfect except for this one thing and I only want to work on this one problem”.
But reactivity can be a complex emotional reaction for dogs that requires more than just correcting the problem. It can require a full lifestyle change, reinforcing a healthy mindset throughout the day- not just on walks, investing more time into appropriate physical and mental enrichment, finding ways to socialize your dog in a healthy manner, & changing the overall relationship you have with your dog. Reactivity is almost never a quick fix.
In Rosie’s case, her reactivity was stemming from fear and lack of socialization. She has made a ton of progress in the last week, but we still have a ways to go. And I love seeing her confidence grow each day.
Every dog is different, and if you’re struggling with your dog’s reactivity I recommend investing in an experienced trainer to help guide you through the process. If you have a puppy or young dog, early training and healthy socialization can help prevent them from developing reactivity in the future.
Working through behavioral issues with your dog can be hard, but it is always so worth it.

Treadmill training is such an underrated skill that can be so beneficial for dogs and owners🐾
Rainy day? Treadmill
High energy dog? Treadmill
Short on time? Treadmill
Reactive/anxious dog? Treadmill
Dog lacking confidence? Treadmill
Daily exercise is essential for our dogs, and having the treadmill as an option on those difficult days can make all the difference. In our training programs, we prioritize your dog’s biological needs — physical exercise, mental enrichment, and proper nutrition — all of which play a key role in shaping balanced, well behaved pups. Our dogs LOVE their treadmill workouts, and you will too!💚

Private Lessons vs. Board and Train: Which is Right for Your Dog?
When it comes to dog training, we know every dog and family is unique. That’s why it’s important to understand the difference between Private Lessons and Board and Train so you can choose the best option for your dog!
Private Lessons:
• Tailored one-on-one sessions with you and your dog.
• I train you how to train your dog, and give you detailed homework to practice throughout the week. Majority of the training and day-to-day work is done by you. Expect to invest 1 hour of training each day.
• Great for owners who want to be involved in the training process and learn along side their dog.
• Typically done in weekly, one hour sessions, so you can see consistent progress.
Board and Train:
• Your dog stays with me for 2-4 weeks (depending on their needs) and I do the hard work for you.
• Your dog receives intensive daily training from a professional and progresses significantly faster through the training process. They’re trained in a home environment and in public for real-world reliability.
• Ideal for busy owners who don’t have the time to do the day-to-day training or dogs with more difficult behavioral issues.
• Dogs come back home with strong foundations, you will receive multiple training sessions to learn how to continue your dog’s training, and you’ll receive personalized follow-up sessions to maintain progress.
Both options can lead to amazing results, but which is best for your dog? Contact me for a free consultation to discuss your dog’s needs and start their training journey today!

A little about me…
My name is Skye Goodwin and I was born and raised here in Pompano Beach, Fl. I’ve ALWAYS been an animal lover (obsessed as a kid) but didn’t think I would have a career working with them. At 18 years old I had adopted my two dogs, Ruca (white pittie mix) & Moose (chocolate lab mix) and they were the catalyst for me to pursue a career working with dogs.
I would volunteer at the county shelters and rescues to just walk and spend time with the dogs there. After volunteering at an animal hospital so much, they eventually asked “do you want a job here?”. And at 18, that was a dream. I got PAID to take care of the rescue dogs and dogs boarding in the hospital.
During that time I learned so much about caring for dogs including grooming, first aid, kennel management, sanitation, etc. I worked with dogs that had been abused, were feral, aggressive, and extremely fearful.
In 2018 I decided to pursue a career in dog training with the goal to help more dogs get adopted and prevent dogs from being dumped at the shelter. I attended the Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers and graduated at the top of my class as a Certified Canine Training and Behavioral Specialist. I became obsessed with learning everything I could about dogs and training. I learned all about balanced training methods and saw the incredible impact it had on my own dogs and the dogs I worked with. I attended several shadow programs and seminars from well renowned trainers in the industry, and was offered a job training dogs in Spokane, Washington. For three years I worked with hundreds of dogs and their owners through private lessons, board and trains, and group classes.
Fate brought me back home to continue working with an amazing company training dogs here in south Florida for the past 3 years. And as grateful as I am for my time there, I’m ready to pursue my own venture with Pawpano Beach Dog Training as the next step in my career.
I’m so grateful to every person that has trusted me with their dog and their training in the last 7 years. And my hope is to continue making a positive impact on the lives of people and dogs here in south Florida.🐾💚
Welcome to ✨Pawpano Beach Dog Training✨
Launching this company has been a dream of mine for the last 7 years, and it’s finally here! If you’ve ever talked to me about dog training, you know that this is my passion and I could never do anything else. I’ve put so much (literal) blood, sweat, and tears into building this career for myself and constantly growing as a trainer, teacher, owner, person, and now business owner. And I couldn’t be more excited for this next adventure.
I’ve been blessed with the most encouraging and supportive people in my life who have pushed me to never settle for less, and as scary as it is, I’m ready for the challenge. So please like, comment, share, and follow along on this journey to help dogs and their owners live a more balanced life!
